Driver Ignores Bike Lane Rules, Then Changes His Tune on Camera

Paris, France

14 Jun, 2026 - 1 day ago - on Rue Chaligny

This happens far too often in Paris.

Many drivers from outside the city still haven't adapted to the reality of today's streets: around 11% of trips in Paris are now made by bicycle, while only about 4% are by private motor vehicle.

In this case, the driver ignored two basic rules. First, cyclists already using the cycle lane have priority. Second, the marked yield line means drivers must wait before crossing the bike lane and allow cyclists to pass safely.

Instead, he became aggressive and nearly confrontational. Interestingly, the situation changed the moment he realized he was being filmed.

Cyclists have a right to safe infrastructure and to be treated with respect. Sharing the road starts with understanding and following the rules.
